Event Details

The 2022 Sissonville Community Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 with lineup starting at 3:30 p.m. and the parade stepping off at 4:30 p.m. The rain date will be Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the same times.

The goal of the parade is to bring joy and happiness to children of all ages within our community. Toward that goal, we must be very mindful of safety of all who participate and those who attend as spectators.

The following are the rules for the parade:
1. You must pre-register for the parade due to how the parade will be organized and the line-up. All entries must pre-register in order to be in the parade. To register, e-mail Tom Miller at tomfirerescue@msn.com and let him know what your entry(ies) in the parade are or will be. If you have already registered, please skip this step.
2. Line-up will be at Sissonville Middle School and the parade route will go North along Sissonville Drive to the Latter Day Saints Church near Flinn Elementary.
3. All entries should have a Christmas/holiday theme and/or decorations. It can be subtle or overt - we want you to have fun as well!!!
4. The parade will be led by the Charleston Police Department Motorcycle Unit followed by the Sissonville High School Marine Corps JROTC Color Guard.
5. Walking units, e.g. color guard, band(s), etc. will go first in the line-up. This will be done for safety and to help prevent the parade being "strung-out" with long breaks in between entries.
6. Santa will once again be the guest of honor in the parade. We will only have one (1) Santa in the parade so as not to confuse the children.
7. Equestrian units will be at the rear of the parade near Santa.
8. Classic cars are welcome to participate.
9. Side by Sides are welcome to participate.
10. The throwing of candy is strictly prohibited due to the potential danger and liability. The insurance policy for the parade prohibits the throwing of candy. Units can have walkers that go along-side their entries passing out candy.
11. Awards will be given to entrants in the following categories. The Awards will be available at the December 2022 GSDC Metting to be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the Sissonville Public Library. Awards will be given for the following categories:
- Best Church
- Best Business
- Best School Entry
- Best Classic Car
- Best Side X Side
- Best Equestrian Unit
- Best Incorporation of Children
- Best of Show/Best Holiday Theme

Please feel free to share this notice with your contacts who would like to participate

We look forward to seeing you and...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
